NAMWALA SEES PROGRESS AS MP MAPANI COMMISSIONS KEY CDF PROJECTS

Chibiya 1X3CRB Commissioned

Hon. Herbert Moono Mapani, Member of Parliament for Namwala Constituency, has reaffirmed the UPND government’s commitment to rural development and quality education through the commissioning of two major Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in Nakamboma Ward.

The newly unveiled projects include a 1×3 classroom block at Chibiya Primary School, funded under the 2024 CDF at a cost of K939,211.31, and a 5-unit staff ablution block at Simanje Primary School, built through the 2023 CDF disaster response component at K500,000.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Mapani announced that 49 classrooms will be constructed in Namwala by the end of 2025, significantly boosting access to free education. The Chibiya project, along with upcoming CDF-funded initiatives in Mulala, Chilala, and Nalukwale, showcases the constituency’s rapid infrastructure growth.

“With increased CDF allocations rising from K1.6 million in 2021 to K36.1 million in 2025, Namwala is seeing real transformation. No child should sit on the floor or learn under a tree,” said Hon. Mapani.

Chibiya Primary School’s new block expands its capacity to five classrooms, while the modern ablution facility at Simanje greatly improves staff sanitation after damage from the 2023/2024 rainy season.

Community leaders, including HRH Chief Nalubamba’s representative, the Town Council Chairperson, and the District Commissioner, hailed the projects as a turning point for rural education. DEBS Mr. Chilika Mwiinga emphasized the impact on teaching and learning conditions.

The commissioning was marked by vibrant celebrations of traditional music, poetry, and dance—highlighting a community proud of its progress.
