Zambeef Products Plc donated 10 refuse collection bins to Namwala Town Council in a move aimed at strengthening solid waste management and improving environmental sanitation in the district.
The donation was made during a courtesy call on the Office of the Council Secretary on 16 April 2026, where the company reaffirmed its commitment to continued collaboration with the local authority in promoting sustainable development and enhanced service delivery.
Zambeef’s Executive of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Mr. Ezekiel Sekele, who led the delegation, said the company remained committed to implementing impactful CSR programmes in the district. He was accompanied by Dr. Paul Nyangulu, Feedlot Veterinarian, Dr. Iyamvwa Muchepa, One Health Manager, and Mr. Lovemore Banda, Construction Manager.
Mr. Sekele highlighted ongoing interventions, including the construction of a 1×3 classroom block at Chinyemu Primary School in Namwala Central Ward, as part of efforts to complement Government’s agenda of expanding education infrastructure.
He emphasised that investment in education remained central to long-term development, describing it as “the greatest equaliser,” and reiterated Zambeef’s commitment to working with Government to improve livelihoods in Namwala and across the country.
He further underscored the strong working relationship between Zambeef and Namwala Town Council, noting that the district was the company’s largest supplier of cattle and ranked among its top three supply districts.
In response, Namwala Town Council expressed appreciation for the continued support, recognising Zambeef as the district’s largest stakeholder and a key contributor to local revenue generation. The Council also appealed for the establishment of a beef processing plant in Namwala, a proposal that Zambeef indicated could be considered in future plans.
The Council was represented by Director of Engineering Services, Mr. Humphery Chiti, Director of Finance, Mr. Abishy Choongo, and Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Kawewe Chishiko.
The engagement concluded with the formal handover of the 10 refuse bins, marking another milestone in the longstanding partnership between the two institutions aimed at improving service delivery and promoting sustainable development in the district.
